Sullivan's 2 month birthday.

Tuesday January 20
I took Sullivan in for his 2 month check up today. He did so great! He had 3 different shots for his immunizations, but by the time the needle came out he had already stopped crying. Though when I picked him up after the shots were done, he really latched on to me. Both of his fists were clenched onto my shirt, I loved it. Several hours later after the tylenol wore off, he cried quite a bit. I felt so bad for him.



Wednesday January 21
This is Addy and she is Sullivan's first friend. I am in the works with her parents on an arranged marriage :)

Thursday January 22
I am really feeling the need to get into better shape. The thought of having family portraits taken after Sullivan is sealed to us is a motivating factor. I've had a hard time staying motivated though. So, after the kids were in bed I broke out my wii fit and this is what I saw...

I guess I need to use my wii fit more.
Friday January 23
We have this huge dry erase board we write on for some of our family goals. Occasionally when the kids are so bored and can't find anything to do, I break it out and let them draw. This is our family that London drew. Check out Jeff's ears. :)

Saturday January 24
We spent the day cleaning (typical Saturday for us), window shopping for some house stuff and playing in the snow. These cute knitted hats were made by my cousin Ashley.

Sunday January 25
Our friends Stephen and Anji had their baby boy, Cooper. We have been friends with them for a long time and have known their desire for a baby, though the timing wasn't right. We were beyond thrilled when we found out that they were expecting and now baby Cooper is here and healthy. This photo of the day comes from Stephen's cell phone. Isn't he so adorable!

Another one bites the dust

Before London was born, we bought a brand new Honda Odyssey. I wasn't exactly looking forward to being a mini van family, but I guess with the thought of having two kids (gasp) in our small Honda Accord scared me enough to make the jump. It has been nice, especially since there are 3 girls in our family who don't pack lightly when it comes to road trips.
Then London was born early and we didn't expect the amount of money that she would cost us (of course it was totally worth it though). All within a few months, we racked up our debt and ever since we have been slowly but surely trying to get rid of it. Though, after all we did, it never seemed to make a dent. When the Leavitt's (Jeff's boss) asked us to house sit while they served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we knew that it would be the perfect opportunity for us to completely get rid of all of our debt. We still pay rent, but it isn't as much as we used to pay, so any extra that we have goes towards debt. It has been such a blessing for us living here. We've buckled down on our spending habits and have made a strict, but livable budget. Our goals for the two years living here were to pay off London (check), save/pay for an adoption (check), pay off our car (check) and now we are working towards paying off our student loans. Life happens, though, and we now have to pay for Sullivan's surgery (high insurance deductibles), but we still feel our goals are attainable.

2nd month

Sullivan 2 month facts:

-Weighs 13 lbs. 9 oz.
-Is 24 inches long.
-Eats 5 oz. every 3-4 hours.
-Is finally on a really good schedule and I'd like to keep it that way!
-Sleeps 6 hours straight at night.
-Likes his binky (yay!)
-Smiles a lot.
-When you talk to him, he talks back.
-Is starting to hate tummy time, but can hold his head up pretty well.
-Tries to laugh, but isn't quite there yet. (Though he has laughed in his sleep a couple of times)
-Moves his arms and legs A LOT!
-Is very ticklish on his feet.
-Loves to stand on his legs.
-Barely cried when getting his immunizations.
-Cried a lot when the Tylenol wore off after immunizations.

Don't worry, he's strong!

We just got back from taking Sullivan to a pediatric ENT. We were so relieved to hear that his cyst was no big deal, but that the bright pink streak below the cyst was the more worrisome of the two. I just assumed that the pink streak below the cyst was a burn from the fluid that the cyst leaks, but I was way off. The pink streak is actually what the ENT called a sinus track. He explained that the sinus tracks are like fingers and that Sullivan's just didn't close tight in the womb which gives it a pink fleshy exposed look to it.

So, the bad news is that as soon as Sullivan gains some weight, he will need surgery to correct this. The good news is that it isn't worrisome (well, besides for the surgery part...not sure I can even handle that). The ENT said that it could go as far back as his throat so this procedure could be short and sweet or take forever depending on what the inside looks like. He also said it will leave a pretty good sized scar, though I am not worried about that. Scars fade and become "battle wounds." So, more updates in March when we go back to schedule the surgery.
